Dr. Kuo demonstrated this with a tiny pill camera that explored the stomach and digestive tract after consuming instant noodles. The footage revealed that even after four hours, the noodles remained largely intact.
The primary preservative in instant noodles is Tertiary-butyl hydroquinone (TBHQ), a substance the FDA warns can cause health issues when consumed regularly over time. These include weakened organs, increased risk of sickness, and potentially even tumors or cancers.
TBHQ is also found in products like perfumes and inexpensive processed foods such as microwave popcorn and pop-tarts. Additionally, instant noodles contain Propylene Glycol to maintain their texture in hot water—a chemical also used in the tobacco industry.
Beyond these, instant noodles include a cocktail of synthetic additives, along with ingredients like corn syrup, palm oil, and monosodium glutamate (MSG), each of which has its own potential health risks deserving of a separate discussion.
Considering these factors, it might be wise to clear instant noodles from your pantry. Prioritize your loved ones' health by opting for fresh, homemade ramen noodles instead of their processed counterparts.
